Inner Mongolia New Jinshan Carbon Fiber Co started production at the first phase of its 30,000-ton-per-year carbon fiber project in Ordos on May 8. With a single-line design capacity exceeding 3,000 tons, it now operates the country’s largest production line for large-tow carbon fiber. The product quality meets international advanced standards, marking a significant step toward China’s goal of securing a domestic supply of high-end carbon fiber.
Construction of the project began in July 2025, with a total investment of about 2.243 billion yuan ($310 million). The project is being rolled out in two stages. The first stage includes two production lines with a combined annual capacity of 6,000 tons, mainly producing 48K and 60K tow specifications. The second stage, expected to be completed by 2027, will add eight more lines.
The new facility fills a regional gap in large-scale, large-tow carbon fiber production. It is set to boost industries such as new energy and high-end manufacturing, while supporting China’s push for greater self-reliance and low-carbon transition in the carbon fiber sector.
