To promote the conservation and intensive use of water resources, Ordos has implemented a tiered pricing system for general residential water consumption.
The mechanism is structured around the basic household unit, with a baseline calculated based on three residents per household (equivalent to 3 cubic meters per person per month). The comprehensive water rate includes both tap water fees and a sewage treatment fee (fixed at 1.00 yuan/cubic meter).
The city enforces a three-tier progressive pricing structure:
Tier 1 (annual usage ≤ 144 cubic meters): Priced at 3.50 yuan/cubic meter, this tier covers the basic needs of the vast majority of households.
Tier 2 (144 cubic meters < annual usage ≤ 204 cubic meters): Priced at 4.65 yuan/cubic meter, applying the principle of "higher consumption, higher cost".
Tier 3 (annual usage > 204 cubic meters): Priced at 8.00 yuan/cubic meter, utilizing price leverage to curb excessive waste and strengthen conservation awareness.
Special notice: Households with more than three registered residents may apply to the water supply company to adjust their baseline allowance by submitting relevant documentation such as household registration certificates.
