Inner Mongolia Yidong Dongsheng New Materials Co has completed the topping-off of the kiln tower for its demonstration project in the Juungar Economic Development Zone, which aims to produce 200,000 metric tons of high-activity kaolin annually through suspended decarbonization and calcination of coal gangue, marking a major structural milestone for the 140-million-yuan ($20.69 million) project.

The Phase I facility, covering 50 mu (3.33 hectares), is scheduled to commence production by the end of 2026. Once fully operational, it will produce 200,000 tons of high-activity kaolin annually for applications in ceramic glazes, fiberglass, and papermaking.

At full capacity, the plant will consume 260,000 tons of coal gangue per year, transforming mining waste into value-added materials. The project is expected to generate an annual output value of 200 million yuan.

The demonstration project marks a major step toward strengthening the region's new materials supply chain and advancing circular economy upgrades in the resource-dependent area.
