Recently, the extension project of the North China UHV Power Grid to Western Inner Mongolia—the "Two Points, Three Corridors" project (Dalad-Western Inner Mongolia 1000kV AC Power Transmission and Transformation Project)—received construction approval from the National Development and Reform Commission. This project is a key project in China's 14th Five-Year Plan for electric power planning and serves as a supporting facility for the first Mengxi-Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei ±800kV UHVDC power transmission project to be implemented in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

According to reports, the Dalad-Western Inner Mongolia UHV AC Power Transmission and Transformation Project plans to construct a new Dalad 1000kV substation, installing two sets of 3,000 MVA main transformers. New double-circuit 1000kV lines from Dalad to Western Inner Mongolia will be built, with a total line length of 2×124.6 kilometers. The project investment is 4.374 billion yuan. The construction of the project can generate multiple benefits such as stimulating investment, driving employment, and restoring ecology. It will meet the access and power transmission needs of the Mengxi-Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei UHVDC project, realize the extension of the North China UHV grid to Western Inner Mongolia, and enhance the transmission capacity of the west-to-east power transmission section within the Inner Mongolia power grid. It is of great significance for transforming the resource advantages of China's western region, promoting large-scale consumption of clean energy, and facilitating the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Under the unified organization of the State Grid Corporation of China, State Grid Inner Mongolia Eastern Electric Power will make every effort to expedite the preliminary procedures and land acquisition work, striving for the project to commence construction in April 2026 and ensuring its completion and commissioning simultaneously with the Mengxi-Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei±800kV UHVDC project.
