Ordos has once again secured a spot on China's Top 100 Innovative Cities list, according to the recently released China City Innovation Capability Evaluation Report 2025. Compiled by the authoritative China Research Institute for Science Popularization under the Ministry of Science and Technology, this marks the third year in a row—since 2023—that the city has earned this recognition.
The report, a key component of China's national innovation survey system, assesses cities across five dimensions: innovation governance, original innovation, technological innovation, achievement transformation, and innovation leadership, using a total of 30 specific indicators.
Looking ahead, Ordos plans to deepen the integration of technological and industrial innovation, shifting its growth model from one driven mainly by resources to a more balanced approach that combines resources, innovation, and real-world applications. The city aims to build a coordinated regional innovation system, foster a top-tier innovation ecosystem, develop new quality productive forces tailored to local conditions, and further strengthen its innovation capabilities.
