A cluster of high-tech projects in new materials, semiconductors, and clean energy is rapidly taking shape in the Juungar Economic Development Zone in Ordos, signaling a strategic shift toward advanced manufacturing and technological self-reliance.

In a recent milestone, Inner Mongolia Guiyuan New Energy Electronic Material Technology Co launched production of silicon-carbon anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, a project incubated by Tsinghua University's Ordos Laboratory. Using proprietary coating technology, the material boosts electric vehicle range by about 30% and performs better in low temperatures, positioning it as a key upgrade for next-generation batteries.

Nearby, Langfeng New Materials is producing nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials, exported to coastal Chinese industrial hubs and overseas markets including Southeast Asia and Europe. The components are critical for EVs, renewable energy systems, and electronics.

Meanwhile, construction is in full swing at Zhunxin Semiconductor's 6-inch silicon-based power chip plant. The ¥20 billion facility will establish a full semiconductor supply chain, from wafer fabrication to packaging and testing,  filling a regional gap in high-end chip manufacturing.

These developments are part of a broader push under Juungar Banner's "518" industrial plan, which aims to build an innovation-driven economy centered on advanced materials and high-tech manufacturing. More than 30 key projects are currently underway, spanning fields from coal waste recycling and photovoltaic glass to drone production and thermal power expansion.

Once reliant on traditional industries, Juungar Banner is now positioning itself as a hub for the new quality productive forces, greener, smarter, and more integrated into global high-tech supply chains.
