The 1.5 million-kilowatt integrated wind-solar hydrogen production project of CGN (Inner Mongolia) New Energy Investment Co's Otog Banner branch has received preliminary approval from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Energy Bureau.
With a total investment of 7.5 billion yuan ($1.08 billion), the project plans to build 1 million kW of wind power and 500,000 kW of solar power, complemented by a 225,000 kW/900,000 kWh energy storage system.
The project is expected to generate 3.3 billion kWh of electricity and 49,900 metric tons of hydrogen annually, save approximately 1 million tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 2.76 million tons, delivering significant economic and ecological benefits.
As a key project approved for the inaugural year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30) in Otog Banner, its implementation will significantly enhance local new energy consumption, promote the large-scale development of the green hydrogen industry, and provide crucial support for optimizing the regional energy structure and facilitating a green, low-carbon transition.
Otog Banner energy bureau will assist the enterprise in advancing project procedures and investments during the validity period of the preliminary review, ensuring timely implementation and injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the banner's hydrogen energy industry.
