The 2025 list of China's Top 500 Energy Enterprises was released at the 8th China Energy Industry Development Annual Conference on Dec 4. Inner Mongolia autonomous region ranked sixth, with 35 companies on the list, 20 of which came from Ordos.
The elected companies from Ordos include Inner Mongolia Huineng Coal and Electricity Group, Yitai Group, Mengtai Group, and Yidong Coal Group, with Huineng Coal and Power Group achieving a notable position at 68th.
The list, jointly compiled by China Energy News and the China Institute of Energy Economics, uses the companies’ 2024 annual revenue as its core evaluation criterion. The total revenue of the top 500 enterprises reached 33.43 trillion yuan ($4.74 trillion), marking a slight year-on-year increase of 0.04 percent.
In terms of regional distribution, Jiangsu province leads with 55 companies in the top 500 list, maintaining its first-place position for the second consecutive year. Shandong province ranks second with 48 companies, while Zhejiang and Guangdong follow with 45 and 43 companies, respectively.
