From upgrading milk source bases and establishing processing enterprises to Guinness-certified traditional techniques and the nationwide popularity of "milk skin+" products, Ordos' milk skin industry is becoming a solid bridge towards shared prosperity.
Since 2021, Ordos has invested a total of 16.65 million yuan ($2.35 million) in special funds to support 21 local specialty dairy product projects. These investments have empowered the entire chain, from cultivating milk source bases and upgrading production technology to building brand systems.
Driven by policy guidance and financial support, the number of local specialty dairy processing workshops has grown from 63 in 2020 to 124 this year, with the annual processing capacity exceeding 40,000 metric tons, forming a small but strong industry pattern and breathing new life into ethnic traditional crafts in the modern market.
With financial backing, leading enterprises have emerged as pioneers of industry upgrades. Inner Mongolia Muming Food Co has introduced 148 high-quality dairy cows and upgraded six standardized production lines, stabilizing daily milk skin production at over 500 sheets. These products are sold nationwide through both online and offline channels, with annual sales exceeding 20 million yuan.
Cross-sector foods such as milk skin coffee, milk skin hotpot, and milk skin fried rice have consistently captivated the market. Candied hawthorns wrapped in milk skin have become a trendy snack among young people, with Ordos' daily milk skin sales reaching 19,300 sheets, distributed nationwide.
Ordos will continue to focus on developing its specialty industries, deepening "milk skin+" innovation, and aligning traditional dairy products with modern consumer demands, thereby promoting rural vitalization through industrial development.
