With China's strategic emphasis on the low-altitude economy as an emerging industry, the city of Ordos is leveraging its unique airspace resources and robust industrial foundation to establish itself as a leading hub in the sector, ambitiously charting a path to a 10-billion-yuan ($1.41 billion) industry by 2027.

Ordos boasts 75,000 square kilometers of temporary airspace and over 300 flyable days annually and has created a diverse airspace supply system. Anchored by Ordos Ejin Horoo International Airport and supported by general airports and landing sites, the city has developed an integrated aviation network. This network extends low-altitude applications to mining operations, industrial inspections, protection of the Yellow River's shoreline, and cultural tourism, covering production, public services, and tourism consumption.

Additionally, Ordos' substantial new energy capacity provides green electricity, while its strong coal chemical industry ensures ample supply of materials. These advantages have attracted numerous low-altitude economy enterprises, accelerating the implementation of key projects. Under the dual drivers of policy and market, and within the framework of "Five Bases" construction, Ordos is developing a comprehensive, sustainable low-altitude economic ecosystem.

"We have set a clear goal of suprassing 10 billion yuan in the low-altitude economy by 2027," said Hasiqilao, director of the industrial development promotion center at the Ordos bureau of industry and information technology. The next steps include establishing a robust hub platform, planning a 1,000-kilometer city-wide flight corridor, and optimizing the industrial ecosystem. Ordos aims to expand the integration of the low-altitude economy with energy, tourism, and other industries, positioning it as a new engine for the city's high-quality development.
