In Shierliancheng township, over 20,000 mu (1,333 hectares) of potatoes have entered harvest season. Plump, golden tubers of even size are unearthed by harvesters, sorted by local farmers, and packed for shipment across the country. As a high-yield, high-quality potato demonstration base, the township's fertile soil and ample sunshine make it an ideal growing area. Potatoes have become a key driver of local rural vitalization.

Wudinghe village recently celebrated the harvest of 3,000 mu of Chinese yam and potatoes. Each day, about 40 metric tons of yam are shipped to markets in Shandong, Hebei, and Shanxi provinces. In the Mu Us sandy land, loose soil and large diurnal temperature variations help tubers accumulate nutrients, resulting in yams with a firm texture and potatoes high in dry matter. This year, all 6,000 mu of yam planted across the banner have been successfully harvested.

In Shagedu village, harvesters rumble through continuous fields as yields hit a record 839.16 kilograms per mu – an increase of nearly 119 kilograms from last year. Once a saline-alkaline wasteland, the village now grows 13,000 mu of rice, involving 255 households. "With ample rainfall this year, we expect rice output value to reach 26 million yuan ($3.66 million)," said Li Qingyun, Party secretary of the village. "We've chosen the right path to prosperity."
