Inner Mongolia Baofeng Coal-based New Materials Co's 3-million-metric ton olefin project – the world's largest single-plant coal-to-olefins facility located in Uxin Banner, Ordos – has produced 1.16 million tons of polyolefins in the first half of the year, generating 8.4 billion yuan ($1.18 billion) in revenue.

Since its launch in November 2024, the facility has operated safely and steadily for over 6,600 hours, with an average of over 9,000 tons of polyolefin products daily. The company's products have been shipped to downstream markets across North, Central, and East China, and are widely used in industrial, agricultural, medical, and high-end manufacturing fields.

The project's success is backed by strong technical barriers and scale effects. Baofeng employs DMTO third-generation technology, which holds independent intellectual property rights in China, reducing methanol consumption per ton of olefins to 2.66 tons, far below the industry average.

Additionally, the project is equipped with a 400,000-ton/year green hydrogen coupling olefin production system, marking the world's first large-scale integration of green hydrogen with modern coal chemical engineering. This initiative sets a new precedent in transforming "black resources" into "green materials".

"In the future, the company will pursue its strategic goal of becoming a global supplier of new materials. We will continue to advance the coal-to-olefin industry, demonstrate our leadership as a flagship enterprise, and contribute to both the development of Uxin Banner and the national energy security strategy," said Han Huashan, general manager of Inner Mongolia Baofeng Coal-based New Materials Co.
