Efforts to make drug labels more senior-friendly have advanced this year, guided by national policy initiatives. Inner Mongolia Conba Pharmaceutical Co, based in Hanggin Banner in Ordos, has taken the lead by enhancing the labeling of its Shexiang Tongxin Dripping Pills.

The newly designed labels address the issues of tiny, hard-to-read text and complex terminology, providing elderly patients with clear and reassuring information. The font size has been significantly enlarged and the layout is now more spacious. Instead of lengthy drug descriptions, only the essential information that patients need is now included.

In addition to simplifying the printed drug information, the company has made a significant digital upgrade by adding a QR code to the top left corner of the label. Elderly patients and their families can easily scan this code with a phone to access an electronic version of the label, which can be magnified to any size, making it much easier to read.

Currently, the company produces 110,000 boxes of Shexiang Tongxin Dripping Pills daily. The new labels will be gradually introduced with upcoming batches, which will be distributed to major sales outlets and medical institutions nationwide. As one of Ordos' pilot companies in this reform, Conba Pharmaceutical's successful implementation marks a milestone in the city's efforts to comply with national policies and ensure public medication safety.
