The launch meeting for the "New Intelligent Sand Barrier Equipment and Tree-Planting Robot Development and Integrated Demonstration" project was held in Ordos on Oct 17. The project is part of technological support provided for the construction of the city's National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone.

This project, with a total investment of 17.5 million yuan ($2.46 million) and a three-year implementation period, is one of the eight major projects under the open competition mechanism for selecting the best candidates to lead research projects initiated by the Ordos Sustainable Development Promotion Center for 2025. 

It focuses on addressing key and difficult issues in the "Three-North Shelterbelt Project", such as the inability of mechanical equipment to meet production needs and the low level of mechanization in ecological construction. 

The project aims to systematically develop mechanized and intelligent desert control equipment, conduct research on drought-resistant afforestation and grassland planting technologies, and construct an engineering management sensing system.
