Ordos inbound tourism recognized as national exemplary case

Ordos city in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region has been recognized as one of the "2025 China Tourism Industry Influential Cases" for its exemplary practices in promoting inbound tourism through innovation at the 12th China Tourism Industry Development Conference.

The city has achieved significant growth in inbound tourism through strategic policies, expanded flight routes, product innovation, and service upgrades. In 2024, Ordos welcomed 35,000 inbound tourists, marking a 327 percent increase from 2023 and setting a new record.

The city has implemented the "Warm City for 10,000 Inbound Tourists" project, boosting tourism by expanding flight routes and supporting flexible travel options, such as charter flights and group tours. In 2023, Ordos began direct international flights to South Korea, Mongolia, Vietnam, and Malaysia, and by 2024, operated 162 charter flights, transporting 15,700 tourists.

Ordos has also introduced premium travel routes that cover core attractions, upgraded unique accommodations such as capsule hotels and yurts, and developed cultural tourism projects to broaden offerings and enhance visitors' experiences.

The city now accepts foreign card payments at key locations, over 2,500 hotels can provide convenient stays for international guests, border inspection processes have become more efficient, and multilingual services at tourist sites have been expanded.

Additionally, Ordos has established an international communication center, started accounts on overseas social media platforms, and promoted its cultural and tourism resources through television and advertising in major tourist source countries and regions.
