On Sept 8, the signing ceremony for the Nalinxili Mining Area Drainage Water Concentrated Treatment Demonstration Project was held at the Ordos Water Investment Group, which included the signing of both the "Project Company Formation Cooperation Agreement" and the "Drainage Water Treatment Project Cooperation Agreement".
The project is a regional centralized treatment demonstration project for mining water, designated by the Ordos municipal government for the deep treatment and comprehensive utilization of drainage water from four coal mines in the Nalinxili Mining Area: Subuerga, Nalinxili, Haolaisu, and Kuitenggou.
The project covers an area of approximately 200 mu (13.33 hectares) in Hongqinghe town, Ejin Horoo Banner. It has an annual treatment capacity of 35 million metric tons and a total investment of about 900 million yuan ($126.38 million). The first phase is planned to begin construction in 2026 and be completed in 2028.
Once completed, the project will collect and treat the drainage water from the Nalinxili Mining Area in a centralized manner, with unified network distribution. After meeting the self-use needs of the coal mines, all treated water will be distributed through the water network system managed by the Ordos Water Investment Group for citywide coordination.
This will effectively control the discharge of drainage water at the source, significantly improve the treatment efficiency and utilization of drainage water in coal mines, and serve as an important demonstration for achieving "zero discharge" and comprehensive resource utilization of mining drainage water in the city.
