Inner Mongolia Jianheng Aoneng Technology Co has started small-batch production of its high-voltage sodium-ion batteries following the commissioning of the production line. With world-leading technology and production capacity, this project will boost the development of the domestic energy storage industry.

The first phase, involving a total investment of 500 million yuan ($69.08 million), began construction in August 2023. Trial production commenced in November 2024, with full operation expected by June this year. The facility will then have an annual production capacity of 300 megawatts, generating an estimated annual output value of 1 billion yuan and 130 million yuan in profits and taxes.

As an industry pioneer, Jianheng Aoneng has developed the world’s first 720V sodium-ion batteries using a proprietary solid-state ceramic electrolyte. These batteries offer superior safety performance compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. They operate from -40 to 60 C and can withstand up to 7,000 charge cycles. Potential application scenarios include grid energy storage, extreme environments, and military uses.

Upon its completion, the facility will become a 3GWh sodium-ion battery production base with automated processes and a complete industrial chain. It is projected to yield an annual output of 6 billion yuan and 390 million yuan in profits and tax revenue.

The project will boost the local chemical and machinery processing industries by integrating the regional supply chain. It will also advance Ordos' development of a new-type power system that integrates power sources, grids, loads, and storage. The project is driving the establishment of international standards for sodium-ion batteries to cement China's competitive edge in the global energy storage market.
