In recent years, Ordos in Inner Mongolia autonomous region has constructed charging stations to promote the use of new energy trucks. In the city's Kangbashi district, Inner Mongolia Tianyao Energy has integrated the construction and management of charging stations into its business plans.

The company operates nine charging and battery-swap stations with 31 chargers, catering to the needs of large freight trucks, short-haul vehicles, and small passenger cars. The battery-swap stations can handle 920 battery swaps daily for large electric freight trucks, while the chargers can accommodate 1,200 charging sessions.

Qin Jian, a company employee, explained that diesel trucks incur an energy cost of about 3.3 yuan ($0.46) per kilometer, totaling 38,850 yuan in daily logistics expenses. In contrast, electric trucks cost around 1.7 yuan per kilometer, with daily logistics expenses of 16,065 yuan, achieving energy cost savings of more than 50 percent. Electric heavy trucks also reduce carbon emissions by 35.85 kilograms and carbon dioxide emissions by 131.5 kg per 100 kilometers.

The company's charging and battery-swap stations have cumulatively provided 30 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, benefiting 150,000 vehicles and saving 27 million yuan in social logistics costs. Moreover, they have reduced carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 24.6 million metric tons, equivalent to planting 1.35 million trees.
