PowerChina's integrated wind and solar power hydrogen production project in Hanggin Banner, Ordos, has been approved by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Bureau of Energy.
The project, implemented by Hanggin Banner Juyuan New Energy Co, involves a total investment of approximately 1.12 billion yuan ($154.8 million). Located in the banner's Duguitala town, it covers an area of about 66 square kilometers. It is designed with a new energy capacity of 200,000 kilowatts (135,000 kW of wind power and 65,000 kW of solar power), a 40,000 kW/40,000 kilowatt-hours energy storage system, and a hydrogen production station and storage tanks covering an area of about 200 mu (13.33 hectares).
The project is scheduled to commence construction in July 2025 and be operational by October 2026. It is expected to generate an output value of 130 million yuan, with profits and taxes amounting to 19 million yuan. It will also create over 100 jobs, reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy security, and improve the ecological environment.
