The expansion project is key to strengthening Inner Mongolia as a major national energy base. Involving a total investment of approximately 7.87 billion yuan ($1.08 billion), the project plans to build two 1,000MW high-efficiency ultra-supercritical, single reheat, indirect air-cooled, extraction condensing steam turbine generator units.

Sixty percent of the main structures of the production ancillary facilities have been completed, and more than 1,200 people are currently on site. The project is entering the full-scale equipment installation stage and aims to complete the unit's startup and trial operation by the end of the year.

The project will generate 10 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, supply 7.76 million metric tons of industrial steam, and generate an annual revenue of 4.19 billion yuan. It will also pay 250 million yuan in taxes and make a profit of 1.03 billion yuan. It will provide reliable energy support for Inner Mongolia to build a safe power supply and promote the transformation of coal power functionality.
