After undergoing processes such as gasification, purification, methanol synthesis, MTO (methanol to olefins), and olefin separation, coal is converted into industrial feedstock – olefin products. These are packaged through an automated line and transported via freight and rail to East and South China markets. This process helps to fill the market gap and enhance the capacity for import substitution.

The project, which can produce over 4,000 tons of olefin products daily, took 18 months to construct and received a total investment of 48.4 billion yuan ($6.66 billion).

Technological innovation in modern coal chemical engineering has reduced the system's energy consumption by nearly 20 percent.

All the equipment and facilities used in the project are independently produced and manufactured in China, achieving import substitution. Of these, 23 key core devices meet world-class standards.

The project has established five of the world's largest single-unit production capacities in gasification, purification, methanol synthesis, full-density polyethylene, and methanol-to-olefins separation-coupled steam cracking units. It also holds the nation's largest single-unit production capacities in DMTO, polypropylene, and air separation units. This has boosted the high-quality development of China's equipment manufacturing industry.
