The 4.73-megawatt distributed photovoltaic (PV) project of Hengkun LNG Plant, built by the Comprehensive Service Branch of Xinwen Mining Inner Mongolia Energy Co, passed acceptance and was put into operation on Dec 24.

The project covers an area of around 120 mu (8 hectares) and received a total investment of approximately 18.2 million yuan ($2.49 million). It employs a "self-generation and self-consumption" operational mode to build ground solar panels in the undeveloped open space on the south wing of Fucheng Coal Mine in Otog Front Banner, Ordos.

The project has an electricity generation capacity of 6.51 million kilowatt-hours. It is expected to annually reduce standard coal consumption by 2,050 metric tons and carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 5,330 tons.

On the project site, rows of neat and uniform solar panels shine in the sun. They will convert solar energy into a steady stream of electricity, benefiting the enterprise and contributing to the local construction of a "double carbon practice pilot zone".
