The project will take 18 to 24 months to complete and has a total investment of about 2.5 billion yuan ($342.50 million). It adopts an internationally advanced and domestically leading innovative process, making it the world's largest single-set green methanol project and China's first biomass electric methanol project.
The project connects foundational industries such as biomass cultivation and desertification control while integrating emerging fields like shipping decarbonization and green chemical new materials.
Yuanhuang Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai Yutang New Energy Technology Co, primarily focuses on utilizing biomass gasification to produce carbon dioxide coupled with renewable green electricity to synthesize green methanol.
