The first phase of the Inner Mongolia Qingneng Tongsheng High-Power Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Production Core Equipment Industrial Base Project began production on Nov 11 at the Ordos Airport Logistics Park. This project fills a gap in the research, development, and manufacturing of 200-kilowatt high-power fuel cells and PEM/AEM hydrogen production core equipment in Ordos city.

The base is the result of strategic cooperation between the government of Ordos' Ejin Horoo Banner and Guangdong Qingneng New Energy Technology Co. It received a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan ($165.84 million).

The production line built for the first phase operates in Inner Mongolia Qingneng Tongsheng New Energy Co's production workshop. It annually produces 5,000 high-power commercial vehicle fuel cell stacks, hydrogen circulation systems, and engines. Only after bipolar plate coating production, bridge welding, membrane electrode coating, single-cell performance testing, stack assembly, and system assembly can a complete fuel cell system be taken off the line.

The fuel cell systems and core components produced by this production line will be widely used in cutting-edge fields such as hydrogen-powered vehicles and hydrogen power stations, strongly supporting the development of the hydrogen energy industry.
