On Oct 31, Juungar Banner in Ordos and Huineng Group signed a strategic investment cooperation agreement for the integrated cluster project. The project will comprehensively utilize coal gangue and fly ash, build a source-grid-load-storage new energy power station, and cast green aluminum-silicon alloys.
The project covers an area of 120,000 mu (8,000 hectares), with a total investment of 61 billion yuan ($8.50 billion). A total of 35 billion yuan will be allocated to build the new energy power station with a capacity of 6.5 gigawatts; 20 billion yuan will be used for the 2 million-metric-ton aluminum-silicon alloy casting facility; and 3.7 billion yuan will be spent on the high-aluminum coal gangue storage and processing base. The rest will be applied to build a 24-kilometer raw material transport corridor. Construction is expected to begin in 2025.
The project plans to recycle waste into treasure. Upon completion, national scientific research demonstrations and world-class leading technologies can be built, which are crucial for accelerating the traditional energy industry's green, intelligent, and intensive development. The project will also contribute to extending the industrial chain of new energy and new materials, promoting the coupling of the coal chemical industry and new energy, and thereby building a modern manufacturing concentration area.
