The second "Tsinghua International Youth Dialogue" youth social practice activity was held in Ordos on Aug 22-26. More than 30 young people from Tsinghua University, Oxford University, Harvard University and other schools experienced the charm of Ordos – the Warm City – firsthand.

The youths marveled at the vitality of Ordos' green transformation, technological innovation and natural ecology. They said that they had witnessed a passionate Ordos, a "warm" legend that amazed the world.

"I'm delighted to be in Ordos, where there's a strong focus on attracting talent and expertise, backed by substantial financial support," said Chen Wenjie, a grad student from Tsinghua's School of Economics and Management.

At the Ordos Talent and Innovation Hub, Chen remarked that the hub stands out in every aspect, from its top-notch facilities to its exceptional talent services

"The platform catering to innovation and entrepreneurship among international youth is incredibly alluring. I'm confident that Ordos will continue to attract a wealth of talent who will contribute significantly to local development," added Chen.

"At Whistling Dune Bay, we soared above the undulating dunes via cable car, taking in the breathtaking expanse of nature. We witnessed a vibrant Ordos-themed live wedding performance, where we donned traditional attire and danced alongside our local hosts," said Wu Mengjie, from Tsinghua University's Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology.

She also highlighted that the roasted whole lamb and mini hot pot they savored there left a deep impression on her.

"In Ordos, the international youth delegates were embraced by the warmth and genuine hospitality of the locals, fostering genuine connections. This event not only enriched our knowledge of Ordos' rich culture but also sparked meaningful discussions on fostering cross-cultural understanding and respect amidst the global push for sustainable development," shared Wu.

The event, titled "United in Harmony, Striving for Global Unity", centered on the vital themes of civilizational progress, creativity and mutual enlightenment. Delegates initially gathered in Shanghai before dispersing to Zhejiang, Guizhou, and Ordos for hands-on learning experiences.

Culminating at Tsinghua University, they came together to forge a common vision and delve into novel paths for global youth engagement and international collaboration.

The young international delegates were full of praise for Ordos' remarkable accomplishments during the event. They hailed Ordos as a testament to China's swift development, and many revealed that the trip surpassed their expectations, enriching their perspectives and offering a firsthand glimpse into Ordos' growth and the essence of China's modernization journey. They pledged to harness their creative minds and take concrete steps to foster global peace and development, working together towards a shared, prosperous future.
