On Aug 10, Qiqiao and Qixi, the twin panda sisters, celebrated their 10th birthday at Ordos Wildlife Park.

Their keepers prepared luxuriant cakes made of iced fruits and bamboos for the jovial party, which was teeming with merry-making performances. A "runway show" by the twins was simply adorable, while songs and dances with a touch of Ordos culture truly impressed visitors.

Qiqiao, the elder, is docile and tame, while Qixi, the younger, is lively. The twin sisters were born overnight on Aug 2, 2014, at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. That day happened to be the Qixi Festival, Chinese Valentine's Day, so the keepers named them after the festival. The name Qiqiao comes from "Chuanzhen Qiqiao" – a custom of the festival meaning "begging for skills", while the name of Qixi comes from that of the festival itself. The two names are pronounced exactly the same as their sources but use different Chinese characters.
