In recent years, Uxin Banner in Ordos, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been dedicated to comprehensive desertification control and ecological construction efforts in alignment with the requirements of strengthening ecological protection and restoration, as well as advancing the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program.

In accordance with the "Overall Plan for Major Ecological Protection and Restoration Projects (2021-2035)", Uxin Banner has been implementing measures related to ecological protection and restoration based on grassland and forest resources in the Mu Us desert area of Ordos. This is done while adhering to the concept of integrated protection and restoration encompassing mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands and deserts.

The focus lies on ecological protection and construction in the Yellow River Basin. Various comprehensive measures such as engineering sand stabilization, artificial forestation, and artificial grassland planting have been undertaken to combat desertification.

Phase VI of the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program in Uxin Banner involves three comprehensive rehabilitation projects of the desertified land of the Mu US desert area wind outlet sand-blocking belt, located in the eastern side of the northern section, eastern side of the middle section, and eastern section, respectively.

The construction period for all three projects is three years (2024-2026). The construction work focuses on engineering sand fixation, artificial forest planting, and artificial grass planting with a total investment of 1.49 billion yuan ($205.05 million).

Advancement of three projects:

The eastern side of the northern section project involves a total investment of approximately 499 million yuan. The project includes the plantation of 41,500 mu (2,767 hectares) of artificial tall trees, 166,000 mu of artificial shrubs, and 95,800 mu of artificial grass.

Additionally, it encompasses the stabilization of 254,800 mu of sand through engineering measures. To date, the project has planted 46,780 mu of artificial trees and 43,300 mu of artificial grass as well as stabilized 54,020 mu of sand through engineering measures.

The eastern side of the middle section project involves a total investment of approximately 497 million yuan. This initiative encompasses the plantation of 42,800 mu of artificial tall trees, 171,200 mu of artificial shrubs, and 96,300 mu of artificial grass. Additionally, it involves stabilizing sand dunes across an area exceeding 260,100 mu through engineering measures. Progress has been made on planting 37,400 mu of artificial forests and establishing 63,200 mu of artificial grasslands, as well as stabilizing 44,300 mu of sand dunes.

The eastern section project involves a total investment of approximately 493 million yuan. It encompasses the implementation of 19,600 mu of artificial tall tree planting, 171,600 mu of artificial shrub planting, 134,300 mu of artificial grass planting, and 253,600 mu of engineering sand fixation. Trees have been planted on 29,800 mu of land and grass planted on 44,600 mu, while engineering sand fixation has been completed on 41,600 mu.
