The renowned 2024 Dalad Kubuqi Desert Marathon recently kicked off in Dalad Banner, Ordos, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, attracting over 12,000 runners from all corners of the world.
The 2024 Dalad Kubuqi Desert Marathon is the first desert-themed marathon event in China. It is also the first large-scale marathon event held in Dalad Banner, featuring four categories: marathon, half marathon, health run, and mini run.
Due to the hot weather, Dalad Banner has introduced a number of measures to keep things cool. The banner has added three sun protection items to the participant kits and prepared medical ice bags at each medical station.
After more than two hours of fierce competition, the men's and women's full marathons were both won by Kenyan athletes, while Chinese athletes took the second and third places.
The route covers Dalad Banner's urban landmarks, rural areas, desert tourist attractions, and more, demonstrating the unique charm of Dalad's vast desert, mighty river, and boundless grassland, promoting the integration of culture, sports, and tourism in Dalad and establishing Dalad's cultural tourism brand.
