Spirulina is a major industry in Otog Banner of Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and Jinchang Spirulina Co is a local enterprise which specializes in producing the algae.

At the company's factory, spirulina is converted into tablet form through automated production lines. Outside the factory building, spirulina cultivation greenhouses have covered a large area.

In 2010, the company became one of the first enterprises to set up operations in the banner's Spirulina Industry Park. It previously struggled with low output value and low quality, with a greenhouse production of around 600 kilograms at the time. However, through persistent technological research and innovation over the course of 10 years, it has turned a new leaf.

So far, the company has independently applied for 10 patents, and its product quality has greatly improved. The production per greenhouse can reach about 1 metric ton, leading to the company's annual export volume exceeding 80 tons.

At present, the company is able to make products such as cyanophycin, spirulina powder and tablets, and spirulina polypeptide powder, and has established relevant technological research and testing centers.

Moving forward, the company will strive to further extend the spirulina industrial chain and increase the added value of its products.
