The construction of a lithium-ion battery intelligent factory for energy storage started in the Meng-Su Economic Development Zone in Ordos, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on May 13.
With a designed annual production capacity of 50 gigawatt hours, the project involves a total investment of about 20 billion yuan ($2.77 billion). By applying world-leading techniques, technologies and equipment and using green energy, the factory will achieve zero carbon emissions in its production process.
Its products will include lithium-ion batteries with high safety levels, low cost and long life, integrated-manufacturing products for power systems and energy storage systems.
The project is currently the largest and most comprehensive energy storage project in Inner Mongolia. Once it reaches its full capacity, the factory is expected to have an annual output value of about 60 billion yuan, pay approximately 3 billion yuan in annual taxes, and directly employ around 10,000 people.
Thus, the factory will further enhance the aggregation and competitiveness of Ordos' energy storage industry and continuously boost the supply, storage and consumption capacity of green energy.
