The Department of Science and Technology of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region announced the list of regional enterprise research and development (R&D) centers filed in 2023, with a total of 254 enterprise R&D centers registered. Among them, 57 enterprise R&D centers are from Ordos, a 50-percent increase compared to the previous year, once again ranking first in the region.

The total number of region-level enterprise R&D centers in Ordos has now reached 194, mainly distributed in technical fields such as advanced manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals, new materials, environmental protection, safe production, clean and efficient utilization of coal, and new-generation information technology.

The 57 centers include the Ordos Envision Power Carbon Neutralization and Energy Storage Battery R&D Center, Jianyuan Coal Chemical R&D Center, and Huineng Coal Chemical Coal-to-Liquid Natural Gas R&D Center.

According to the "Implementation Rules for the Award and Subsidy of Scientific and Technological Innovation Platforms in Ordos City," newly identified regional enterprise R&D centers are granted a subsidy of 300,000 yuan ($41,550). The subsidy is meant to encourage and guide enterprises to establish high-level scientific and technological innovation platforms.

In 2023, Ordos provided a total of 11.4 million yuan in subsidies to 38 regional enterprise R&D centers, incentivizing companies to increase R&D investment, thereby enhancing their innovation capabilities and core competitiveness.
