After over a year of construction, a lithium-ion battery anode material project in Juungar Banner of Ordos, the first of its kind in the city, is ready to enter its production phase.

Owned by Ordos Xinchuang New Materials Co, the project has a total investment of 2.72 billion yuan ($372.6 million).

It primarily utilizes petroleum coke, needle coke, and solid asphalt as raw materials. Through processes such as grinding, granulation, and low-temperature carbonization, the project will produce lithium-ion battery anode materials that are widely used in the fields of power batteries and energy storage. Once operational, it will have an estimated annual output of 80,000 metric tons.

Following the launch of the project's first phase, the company will promptly initiate the construction of the second and third phases, aiming to seize opportunities in the new energy sector.

It is projected that by 2026, the completion of the third phase will create job opportunities for over 1,000 locals, with an annual tax contribution of 431 million yuan and an annual output value of approximately 4 billion yuan.
