Kangbashi district, in Ordos city, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has made a significant leap in modern transportation, with two L4 autonomous logistics delivery vehicles officially hitting the road.
These cutting-edge unmanned delivery vehicles are outfitted with state-of-the-art LiDA (or a Light Detection and Ranging system), 360-degree high-definition cameras, autonomous driving algorithms, precision maps, and navigation systems, and have a remarkable top speed of 40 kilometers per hour.
With no need for a driver's cabin, these vehicles offer expansive cargo space, capable of transporting 600 to 800 packages in a single trip.
"The foremost advantage of unmanned delivery vehicles lies in reducing the physical strain on couriers, while ensuring a safer, more convenient, environmentally friendly, and expeditious delivery of packages", said Tao Ding, a staff member of the Ordos Intelligent Connected Innovation Center.
Kangbashi district has deployed two such unmanned logistics delivery vehicles, operating on the routes from the Duoduofa Logistics Distribution Center to various express delivery stations throughout the urban area, making end-to-end express delivery a reality.
