Integrated desertification control, wind power and photovoltaic project commences in Ordos

A launching ceremony for the Desertification Control, Wind Power, and Photovoltaic Integrated "Photovoltaic Great Wall" Project and the Dalad Banner Incremental Distribution Network Green Power Supply Project was held Ordos on March 13th. 

The ceremony was held in Dalad Banner, while another seven banners reported the basic information of their respective projects at the local groundbreaking sites via video link. 

A total of 26 projects commenced on the day of the event, with their combined installed capacity of 20.24 million kilowatts. They are expected to generate an additional area of 1.95 million mu (130,000 hectares) for desertification control within the year.

Representatives from Wushen Banner, Dalad Banner, Hangjin Banner, Inner Mongolia Energy Group, and the Ordos Water Investment Group respectively delivered speeches.

Currently, Ordos is coordinating ecological protection and new energy development, concentrating resources, and focusing on creating the Kubuqi Desert North Border Forest Belt, the Kubuqi Desert Wind and Sand Path Barrier Belt, the Maowusu Windward Barrier Belt, the Leeward Barrier Belt, and the "Photovoltaic Great Wall" of the Kubuqi Desert, as well as the Maowusu Desert Wind Power and Photovoltaic Project. The project is designed to complete the control of 5 million mu desertified land throughout the year.
