The No 1 boiler hydraulic pressure test for the China Coal Northwest Energy Uxin Banner 2×660-megawatts coal-electricity integration project was completed on Aug 29, marking a critical milestone in boiler installation. This lays a solid foundation for subsequent procedures and the project's planned commissioning in the first half of 2027.

The hydraulic test is an essential "physical examination" to verify the quality of manufacturing and installation of boiler pressure parts. Prior to the test, all pressure-bearing welds were strictly inspected, and each procedure was re-examined. After desalinated water was injected and pressure increased, all systems performed well.

Zhang Longtao, project manager of the Uxin Banner Project Department at SEPCO Electric Power Construction Corporation, stated that the next step will be insulation work to prepare for power generation.

The project integrates regional coal mines, coal chemical plants, and mine water treatment facilities to efficiently recycle coal, water, steam, and electricity. According to Chen Jianmin, deputy general manager of China Coal Northwest (Uxin Banner) Power Generation Co, the project will generate over 5.94 billion kilowatt-hours upon completion, serving as a crucial power source for the Western Inner Mongolia Power Grid and a model for local green, low-carbon development and industrial upgrading.

The project is currently in the peak construction phase, with over 3,000 workers advancing equipment installation. Upon full operation, it is expected to convert about 3.3 million metric tons of low-calorific coal annually and use approximately 2.01 million cubic meters of mine water. The clean electricity generated will play a significant role in optimizing the regional energy structure.
