A 100-megawatt wind power project planned by Ordos New Energy Development Co in Otog Front Banner has obtained land-use pre-approval and a site-selection certificate from the Ordos natural resources bureau on Aug 25, marking a key breakthrough in the project's preliminary work and laying a solid foundation for subsequent construction.

The project, located in Chengchuan town of Otog Front Banner, has a total investment of 415.16 million yuan ($58.2 million) and a land area of only 0.892 hectares. In terms of construction scope, the wind farm has an installed capacity of 100 MW and will feature 16 wind turbine units, each with a capacity of 6,250 kilowatts.

The implementation of this project aligns with China's national "dual carbon" strategy and the Inner Mongolia autonomous region's energy transition deployment, maximizing the development of local wind energy resources and increasing the proportion of renewable energy utilization. By promoting deep integration between the coal chemical industry and new energy sources, it eases energy consumption bottlenecks for industrial enterprises and enhances the power security level for companies operating in the region.

As an important part of Inner Mongolia's effort to build a "national green and low-carbon energy base," this project will establish a replicable and scalable demonstration model, providing strong support for Inner Mongolia autonomous region to play a pioneering role in the national carbon peaking process.
