Yingjun No 3 Coal Mine, a key infrastructure project in the Shanghaimiao mining area in Ordos, has officially obtained its mining permit, clearing the final regulatory hurdle before construction can commence.
The permit was granted on Aug 28 to the mine's developer – Inner Mongolia Lumeng Energy Development Co, a subsidiary of Shandong Energy Group.
With an annual production capacity of 6 million metric tons, the mine spans a concession area of 35.75 square kilometers and has a total investment of 5.68 billion yuan ($846 million). It is set to be a flagship modernization project within the expansive Shanghaimiao mining area.
Once operational, the project is expected to significantly boost high-quality coal production and strengthen Ordos' energy supply capabilities.
