Otog Front Banner's first source-grid-load-storage integrated energy project, the 100,000-kilowatt project of Xinwen Mining Inner Mongolia Energy Group, began on Aug 21.

The initial phase, located in Bayi village, Shanghaimiao township, has a total installed capacity of 50,000 kW, including 30 megawatts of wind power and 20 MW of solar PV.

It also includes a 7.5 MW/30 MWh battery storage system, sized at 15 percent of the total wind-solar capacity with a four-hour discharge duration.

The wind farm will use four 7.5-MW turbines, while the PV array will have a DC capacity of 21.7-MW peaks. Supporting facilities include a substation, storage system, and an intelligent operations center. Grid connection is targeted for June 2027.

All of the power generated will go directly to the nearby Hengkun Chemical Phase II plant for on-site consumption, with no power exported to the grid.

Hengkun Chemical Phase II, a large coal chemical complex, is a heavy electricity user, while the new energy project acts as a dedicated green power supplier. The two facilities complement each other through local consumption, creating a new model of coordinated green development between the chemical and new energy sectors.
